On and around the limestone cliffs that stand over the Dordogne river you will see nesting crag and house martins, kestrels, peregrines, and alpine swifts, with black redstarts, serins, firecrests, kingfishers and hobby nearby. The Belvedere de Copeyre usually provides good views of the birds. Northeast of Argentat is an area described as the ‘Gorges de la Dordogne”, it is now mainly a series of reservoirs, but has retained its importance for birds, thanks to the wilderness of the surrounding countryside.
